Permanent reduction in electricity costs: Energy consumption in hospitals is enormous. Each hospital bed consumes an average of approx. 6,000 kWh of electricity per year. With an average of approximately 480 beds per hospital, this results in an annual consumption of 2,880,000 kWh, which is equivalent to the consumption of 720 single-family homes. Electricity costs are therefore a key cost driver in everyday hospital life and offer significant savings potential, to which the use of PV electricity can contribute considerably.
