According to a survey by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, the total area of parking lots in Germany covers 47,060 hectares with 360,555 parking spaces. If all parking spaces were covered with PV, this would correspond to a power potential of 59 GWp. Enough to supply more than 17 million households with electricity for a year. With a total of 41 million households in Germany (Statista, 2024), this corresponds to almost 40% of all households.
