Frankfurt am Main, 20 February 2025The commercial real estate developer SEGRO is implementing an ambitious photovoltaic project together with the solar startup ENVIRIA. PV systems with an output of between 230 and 3,250 kilowatt peak (kWp) are being installed on roof areas of between 5,000 and 50,000 square meters on eight SEGRO properties. The systems will produce around 11 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year, saving an estimated total of 5,500 tons of CO₂.

Ambitious sustainability goals

"The project is a milestone in our mission to realize the solar potential on Germany's company roofs," explains Melchior Schulze Brock, Founder and CEO of ENVIRIA. "SEGRO is committed to solar power and is thus once again underlining its ambitious sustainability goals. ENVIRIA is delighted to be able to contribute." SEGRO is purchasing turnkey PV systems from ENVIRIA and invests in a green source of electricity. This provides tenants of the real estate developer with a cost-effective power supply.

A partnership for the energy transition

SEGRO’s Director Technical Development Carsten Lümkemann says: "For us, sustainability is more than words. We are serious about the energy transition and have found a strong partner in ENVIRIA to implement it. The collaboration enables us to reduce our carbon footprint and save electricity costs in the long term." Two PV systems in Krefeld and Kabelsketal have already been completed; four more in Cologne, Oberhausen, Neu-Wulmstorf and Leipzig are still under construction. Grid connection is scheduled for mid-2025.
