  • Solar system with over 1.7 MWp capacity to be built at the MultiBusinessHub

  • Commissioning planned for the third quarter of 2025

  • Savings of around 745 tons of CO2 per year

Frankfurt am Main, 20 May 2025Real estate developer Lang & Cie. Real Estate AG and solar expert ENVIRIA are sending a joint signal for the energy transition in Ibbenbüren. A large-scale photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of over 1.7 MWp will be installed on the roof of the MultiBusinessHub in Ibbenbüren, Westphalia, near Osnabrück.

The system comprises around 3,850 PV modules covering a total roof area of approximately 20,000 m² and will generate more than 1,580,000 kWh of solar power annually – enough energy to supply around 650 two-person households for a year. Commissioning is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

“The collaboration with Lang & Cie. demonstrates the huge potential for photovoltaics on logistics and commercial properties – and how straightforward implementation can be,” explains Melchior Schulze Brock, founder and CEO of ENVIRIA. “Projects like this are real levers for the energy transition – and we are delighted to be implementing them together with a committed partner like Lang & Cie.”

The new multifunctional hall is being built in the conveniently located Schierloh industrial park in Ibbenbüren and will be constructed in accordance with the DGNB Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council. In addition to the use of heat pump technology, photovoltaics are a central component of the comprehensive sustainability concept. The PV system will avoid around 745 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Green electricity – without any investment

The PV project is being implemented as part of a roof lease agreement: Lang & Cie. is providing ENVIRIA with the roof space for the installation and operation of the PV system and receives a rental payment in return. The green electricity produced can be purchased directly from ENVIRIA by the building’s tenants – without any investment for Lang & Cie.

“We chose ENVIRIA because we were impressed by their flexible solar concepts, straightforward handling, and cooperative partnership,” says Maximilian Thomas, project developer at Lang & Cie. “Sustainable construction has always been a priority for us – by using our roof space for photovoltaics, we are now taking the next logical step.”

Further joint projects to follow

The cooperation between Lang & Cie. and ENVIRIA is long-term. Two further PV systems with a total output of over 2.6 MWp are already in the planning stage in southern Germany. Additional locations are currently being jointly evaluated.
