Photovoltaics, battery storages, charging infrastructure, and energy management will be implemented as a complete solar ecosystem.
At a glance:
-
12.3 MWp PV capacity
-
Around 26,300 PV modules on approx. 122,000 m² of roof space across 5 halls
-
More than 12.2 million kWh of annual electricity production
-
Approx. 5,000 t of CO2 savings per year
-
Integration of battery storage systems in 12.5 MW / 25 MWh capacity class
-
Charging infrastructure for logistics tenants at the site
-
Solar systems implemented under a roof-lease model
-
Intelligent energy management system to optimize the self-consumption rate
Frankfurt am Main / Meerane, 23 June 2026 – Decentralized energy provider ENVIRIA and Deka Immobilien are implementing a comprehensive portfolio at the Meerane logistics park that brings together all components of a holistic and integrated renewable energy system. As a result, tenants will benefit from electricity generated from renewable energy sources. Photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 12.3 MWp will be installed on five logistics and industrial halls, supplemented by battery storages, charging infrastructure, and an intelligent energy management system. Looking ahead, the partners are aiming for full PV coverage, which would also include a sixth hall. Under the roof-lease model, Deka Immobilien will provide the roof space, while ENVIRIA is responsible for the financing, construction, and operation of the entire energy system.
With around 26,300 modules on 122,000 m² of roof space, the system will generate more than 12.2 million kWh of solar power per year over the long term. This corresponds to the annual electricity demand of approx. 4,000 private households. CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 5,000 tons of CO2 equivalents per year. The existing grid connection on site can be used for the entire solar ecosystem.
PV as the foundation, intelligent integration as the key
“This portfolio is an example of how existing properties can be transformed into an integrated energy system: efficient, scalable, and clearly geared towards long-term supply security,” says Melchior Schulze Brock, CEO of ENVIRIA. “The combination of PV, storage, charging infrastructure, and intelligent control forms the basis for a renewable energy supply that is both economically viable and beneficial to the grid.”
At the heart of the project is the use of battery storage systems in the 12.5 MW / 25 MWh capacity class. This strengthens both the economic efficiency on the building and the flexibility of the energy system.
“By integrating battery storage systems, we are creating a system that actively manages peak loads, makes efficient use of self-consumption, and at the same time unlocks opportunities in the energy market,” Melchior Schulze Brock continues. “Combining these elements is crucial for resilient commercial real estate.”

Battery storages manage peak loads
“By integrating battery storage systems in the Deka Immobilien portfolio, we are creating a system that actively manages peak loads, makes efficient use of self-consumption, and at the same time unlocks opportunities in the energy market. Combining these elements is crucial for resilient commercial real estate.”

Charging infrastructure as added value for logistics tenants at the site
The portfolio also includes charging infrastructure. This means the property portfolio is being prepared not only from an energy perspective, but also from a logistics perspective, for future requirements. All components will be connected and controlled via a central energy management system. This ensures that the energy produced on site is used exactly where it is needed.
Installation is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Commissioning is planned for approx. one year later.
About ENVIRIA
ENVIRIA makes it radically easy for companies to switch to solar energy. The startup takes on the financing, planning, installation and operation of solar systems, as well as the integration of charging stations and energy storage. Solar systems can be purchased or rented. ENVIRIA also leases company rooftop areas, operates solar systems on them and markets green electricity. With around 200 employees, ENVIRIA has implemented more than 500 commercial projects since it was founded in 2017.
