How sustainable power supply contracts work
What is a PPA?
In order to supply you with green electricity, we usually conclude one or several Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with you. PPAs are long-term electricity supply contracts in which you receive solar power at a predetermined price.
What types of PPAs are there?
A basic distinction is made between on-site and off-site PPAs.
On-site PPA: An on-site PPA is concluded when the PV system is located directly on your company premises, for example on the roof of a warehouse or production hall. If you have decided to have the system installed and operated by ENVIRIA, you have the option of using the electricity generated directly on site via an on-site PPA. Since transport and grid costs are minimized and no investment is required on your part, this is a very cost-effective way to benefit from solar power.
Off-site PPA: An off-site PPA is concluded when the power generation system is not located on your own premises and the electricity is supplied from a more distant location via the public grid.
)
Often, several PPAs are combined, for example when on-site electricity production does not fully cover demand and a residual electricity supply is required. While the price is always fixed in an on-site PPA, off-site PPAs can also be structured more flexibly with dynamic tariffs, allowing them to benefit from market opportunities.
What are the advantages of a PPA for your company as an electricity consumer?
PPAs offer a high degree of price and planning security thanks to pre-determined electricity prices and protect against electricity price fluctuations. In addition, companies can benefit from solar energy at low cost and become more sustainable without having to make their own investments.

What is the difference?
Fixed vs. flexible power tariff
Fixed tariff – electricity at a fixed price
With a fixed tariff, electricity is purchased in advance on the futures market – at a price set today for the coming year, for example.
Advantage: High planning security
Disadvantage: Falling or low prices are not exploited and fixed tariffs often end up being more expensive, as suppliers factor risks into their prices.
Flexible tariff – electricity at the daily price
With a flexible tariff, electricity is purchased on the spot market at current market prices.
Advantage: Potential savings when prices are low
Disadvantage: Price fluctuations are more noticeable
With battery storage and intelligent energy management, price peaks can be avoided in a targeted manner, often making the flexible tariff the cheaper option.
