Schnellecke Real Estate and ENVIRIA agree solar partnership with first project in Sassenburg

Frankfurt, Thursday, 12th of December - Schnellecke Real Estate GmbH, the real estate specialist of the globally operating logistics company Schnellecke Logistics, and the solar startup ENVIRIA have agreed a partnership to enable logistics properties to easily switch to solar energy. The companies will work closely together on the implementation of photovoltaic systems. As a first project, the partners are building a photovoltaic system on the 12,000 m² roof of the Schnellecke logistics center in Sassenburg. With an installed capacity of 1,597.77 kilowatt peak (kWp), almost 1.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of green electricity will be produced annually, which corresponds to annual CO2 savings of around 650 tons. Grid connection is planned for December 2024.

Innovative roof utilization for sustainable energy

Schnellecke Real Estate provides the roof areas of its logistics property to ENVIRIA. ENVIRIA is responsible for the complete installation and operation of the solar system and produces green electricity. Schnellecke can access the electricity produced itself if required. Without any investment of its own.

“With the help of the roof utilization model, we can also utilize areas for solar power that would otherwise lie fallow. ENVIRIA takes care of the entire process - from installation to operation. With this partnership, we are tackling the problem and ensure that the logistics sector becomes a pioneer in renewable energies.”

Further projects in the pipeline

One thing is clear: the PV system in Sassenburg is just the beginning. ENVIRIA and Schnellecke want to implement further projects in the logistics sector throughout Germany. Similar photovoltaic systems on roofs, facades and open spaces with an output of several megawatts are already being planned.
