Frankfurt, Thursday, 05 of December 2024 - hcp, a leading real estate developer in the logistics sector, and the solar startup ENVIRIA are joining forces in a partnership. Together, the companies aim to provide numerous logistics properties with access to solar power and thus drive the energy transition in the sector forward. Here on, ENVIRIA will exclusively equip hcp's projects with photovoltaic systems, enabling the real estate developer to offer its customers even more sustainable solutions at better conditions. The partners are starting with two rooftop systems in Sittensen and Wittenburg. With an area of around 25,000 square meters and a total output of 5,000 kilowatt peak (kWp), the two systems will produce 4.4 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean electricity per year. While the facility in Sittensen was already connected to the grid in October, the grid connection in Wittenburg is planned for early 2025.
“Many logistics properties unfortunately still don't have access to clean solar power. With this partnership, we want to change that. Together with hcp, we have developed solutions that address the specific challenges of the industry. This will make the switch to renewable energies easier while contributing towards a successful energy transition,” explains Melchior Schulze Brock, CEO of ENVIRIA. Christian Heimbach, Managing Director of the hcp group, adds: “Our skills complement each other perfectly. ENVIRIA is Germany's leading commercial and industrial solar company. We have many years of experience in the development of logistics properties and are therefore very familiar with the hurdles involved in switching to renewable energies. Together, we are setting new standards for sustainability in our logistics centers.”
hcp and ENVIRIA are working together to significantly reduce emissions and lower energy costs for tenants. The facilities in Wittenburg and Sittensen alone can save over 2,000 tons of CO2 every year. By producing electricity on site, the logistics centers become less dependent on the energy market and at the same time get significantly closer to meeting their sustainability objectives. But this is just the beginning. Another project south of Berlin with 6,700 kilowatts peak (kWp) and 3,000 tons of CO2 savings is already in the planning phase. Several other projects will follow shortly.
