Press release: Deutsche Asphalt switches to solar power with ENVIRIA

Deutsche Asphalt, a STRABAG AG company, will work with solar startup ENVIRIA to install a photovoltaic system on the 2,000-square-meter roof of its asphalt mixing plant in Büttelborn. The plant is expected to produce more than 310,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, covering more than 20 percent of consumption at the site. Work is already in progress at full speed. The connection to the grid and the commissioning are planned for autumn this year. 

"Especially for energy-intensive companies, solar plants make a big difference. We are proud to be able to accompany Deutsche Asphalt on its path to climate neutrality," says Melchior Schulze Brock, CEO of ENVIRIA. "With the new solar plant, we will cover almost a quarter of our electricity consumption in Büttelborn. This will reduce our costs and at the same benefit the environment," explains Manuel Zientek, Project Lead for Renewable Energies at Deutsche Asphalt. 

 ENVIRIA is responsible for the planning and installation of the plant, with a total output of up to 318.57 kilowatts. Deutsche Asphalt will thus become less dependent on the electricity market and at the same time improve its ESG rating. The companies are also committed to working together in the future. The subsidiary of STRABAG AG plans to implement further plants with ENVIRIA.
