Real estate company Aurelis has set itself an ambitious goal: In the coming years, the company plans to equip its entire portfolio with state-of-the-art solar systems. To this end, it is collaborating with Frankfurt-based solar startup ENVIRIA. Specializing in the B2B sector, the full-service provider for renewable energy will handle the planning, construction and operation of all PV systems for Aurelis. Two pilot projects, which will go live early next year, serve as the kickoff to a long-term partnership between the two companies.

Frankfurt, 25 October 2022 – Aurelis Real Estate is serious about the energy transition. To ensure that its buildings are being equipped with PV systems as quickly and efficiently as possible the company recently established the dedicated company Aurelis Energie GmbH, which will act as owner of the numerous plants currently being planned. In addition, a systematic process was carried out to find a reliable partner from the solar industry to jointly implement projects in the long term.

Now, the choice fell on the solar-startup ENVIRIA from Frankfurt which was named one of the world’s top 100 startups in the energy sector (SET 100). The decisive factor was above all the holistic approach: With around 70 employees and a portfolio that goes far beyond the offering of typical PV service providers, ENVIRIA is set up to manage projects through all phases – from the financing and planning of new PV systems to their installation and operation, all the way to the integration of charging stations, storage energy and more.

Most important to Aurelis, however, was ENVIRIA’s holistic approach, which the startup has built up through projects with companies from all sectors: All in all, ENVIRIA has developed more than 105 commercial projects with an installed capacity of over 50 MW to date, saving upwards of 28,000 tons of CO2 emissions last year alone.

“It is this combination of financial expertise, regulatory knowledge and planning know-how on the one hand, and a true hands-on mentality on the other, that sets us apart from the competition,” explains Melchior Schulze Brock, Founder and CEO of ENVIRIA. “We understand the individual needs of our customers, design tailor-made concepts and then take care of the professional implementation as well.”

Right now, ENVIRIA is proving themselves with two pilot projects for Aurelis. These involve the installation of high-performance solar systems on a Munich brewery, and a commercial property in Duisburg. Starting in early 2023, a total of approx. 800.000 KWh of solar power will be generated here each year. Most of this green energy will be consumed directly by the tenants on site, who can therefore look forward to significantly reduced electricity costs. For Aurelis, the projects mean a smaller carbon footprint and a better ESG score, among other benefits.

“With the new solar power plants, we make a valuable contribution to the sustainability strategy of the Aurelis Group,” adds Schulze Brock. „And by leveraging the enormous potential of unused commercial roofs, we are also advancing the energy transition in Germany.” That is why these two projects will be only the beginning of a long and close partnership between Aurelis and ENVIRIA.
