The 360-degree solar service provider ENVIRIA and the real estate developer bauwo have launched a cooperation to accelerate the sustainable transformation of logistics properties. The two companies are realizing two large photovoltaic roof systems in the Greven and Berkhof logistics parks, which together will produce over 6.5 million kilowatt hours of green electricity annually and thus make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

Construction work has already begun on the approx. 70,000 square meter roof area at the Greven logistics park and, with a capacity of 6,075.81 kilowatt peak and an annual production of around 5.3 million kilowatt hours, promises to save almost 2.5 million kilograms of CO2 per year. The project in Berkhof is similarly ambitious and is scheduled for implementation in the first quarter of 2024. With a plant capacity of almost 1,500 kilowatt peak, more than 1.2 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity are to be produced annually, saving over 578,000 kilograms of CO2.

Sustainability as the core of the corporate strategy

bauwo is pursuing a stringent sustainability strategy, which is now taking on a new dimension with the direct integration of photovoltaics into the development of its logistics properties. "The realization of these PV projects is a milestone in our sustainability efforts. By cooperating with ENVIRIA, we are taking our commitment to a new level and showing what is possible when know-how and responsibility come together," explains Bernhard Rückert, Managing Director of bauwo. He adds: "We not only want to lease the roofs of logistics halls, but also invest in an independent renewable energy division ourselves."

A pilot project with a signal effect

The joint pilot project of bauwo and ENVIRIA is just the beginning of a long-term partnership. The companies want to implement solar systems for tenant electricity supply and surplus feed-in across bauwo's entire range of properties. Further projects with a total output of around 25 megawatts peak are already being planned for 2024.

Melchior Schulze Brock, Managing Director of ENVIRIA, is enthusiastic about the collaboration: "The partnership with bauwo is great proof that economic success and ecological responsibility can go hand in hand. Our vision of a sustainable energy supply becomes tangible through such projects, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this movement with bauwo."

The cooperation is a prime example of how the development of logistics real estate can merge with innovative PV development to create sustainable and future-proof business models.
